Casual Child Care Educators

The City of Whyalla is one of the largest regional City’s within South Australia and offers a relaxed lifestyle where the Outback meets the Sea. Whyalla has a well-established industry and retail base, strong community spirit and its residents enjoy a comfortable lifestyle with plenty of amenities, events and activities.

It offers a culturally diverse regional community and is home to approximately 23,000 people.  The Council area includes Mullaquana and extends south of the City to Murninnie Beach and north of the Point Lowly shacks to the Department of Defence boundary fence. 

Whyalla City Council manages and maintains Childcare services, Library, Airport, Resource Recovery Centre, Cemetery, Crematorium, Infrastructure and recreational facilities including the Visitor Information Centre.

The Whyalla City Council is currently seeking applications from enthusiastic local community members who have previous experience working within a Child Care environment and possess or currently are working towards an ACECQA approved Certificate III in Children’s Service, Diploma or Bachelor in Early Years Education.  We have multiple casual positions available. 

Some of the duties and responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the effective and efficient operation of the Centre.
  • Assisting to implement programs and setting up play areas appropriate to each section.
  • Maintaining daily routines.
  • Recording children’s development.
  • Ensuring self-compliance with Centre policies.
  • Understanding relevant Licensing regulations.

The salary applicable for these roles is in accordance with the South Australian Municipal Salaried Officers' Award and Council’s current Enterprise Agreement ranging from Level 1A to Level 1, paid pro rata for hours worked and casual loading applies.
